Manuel Nazareth Neto, taking stock of the activities undertaken during the year, said the port handled 301,600 tonnes of cargo and recorded traffic of 486 seagoing vessels, coastal vessels and oil tankers.

The president of Empresa Portuária de Cabinda also said that despite container cargo in 2016 falling by about 46% over the same period of 2015, “the results were satisfactory in vertical movement,” according to Angolan news agency Angop.

In 2017, the management company expects the port to process 315,800 tonnes of general cargo as a result of traffic of 536 ships.

The management company intends in 2017 to continue construction of the new deep water port in the Caio Litoral region and build the breakwater and the passenger terminal.

The list of projects for 2017 include strengthening security staffing, training of human resources and acquisition of new vertical/horizontal loading equipment. (macauhub)
