Vessel arrived at Coega Anchorage, Algoa Bay, Port Elizabeth, South Africa, early in the morning Feb 13, and understood to be brought to anchor. With daylight, local media reported fire on board, in midship section area, and published photos with two tugs pouring water over vessel. Later in the morning, it was decided to take vessel to port. At around 1100 LT vessel was berthed, firefighting still going on. As of 1400 LT, firefighting is still on, with at least three tugs and boats at APL AUSTRIA side, and with fire engines at berth. Vessel is deployed at Asia – West Africa Service. No information yet on number of containers on fire, character of cargo and how fire started. On photos APL AUSTRIA while on anchorage, on video she’s already in port.
